Teton Range

Grand Teton Mountain and Teton Range viewed across National Elk Reserve east of Jackson, Wyoming

You have to be a bit adventurous to get to the spot this picture was taken. If you are staying in Jackson and really want directions here you go:

In Jackson, Wyoming at the intersection of US Rt. 89/Broadway and State Rt. 22/Buffalo Way, take Broadway east 2.4 miles to Curtis Canyon
campground sign at Nelson Drive and entrance to the National Elk Refuge.

Turn left at the sign onto gravel road, leading into the National Elk Refuge, and go around 5 miles to an intersection and campground sign.

As you climb in altitude you will see several viewing areas such as this one. Stop at each one and soak in the view. Then you should proceed to the campgrounds scattered along the gavel road. Be aware that the further you go the rougher the gravel road gets.

From where we took this picture I think we might be a mile or so from the first campground.

The campground, located between the National Elk Refuge and Gros Ventre Wilderness along a Douglas fir-covered ridge, is suited more to tents
than the RV community. One camping site has a magnificent view of the Teton Range while the rest are tucked into the mature Douglas fir forest. The understory is grass and there is no privacy between sites. The campground is convenient to Jackson, Wyoming, the National
Elk Refuge and Grand Teton National Park.
