Sailboats of Key West

The Jolly II Rover returned to the dock as we were strolling along Harbor Walk one afternoon and Joyce was able to get this picture.

This is a spectacular old sailing craft to see when they have their bright red sails deployed.

The Jolly II Rover is the most colorful old sailing schooner sailing out of Key West.

The bright red sails make it easy to identify as well as easy on the eyes.

Passengers participate in putting up and taking down all those sails. I also think they participate in adjusting them when necessary.

As you can see there isn't much wind today and they have an abundance of sails deployed.

The Fury fleets large catamaran sail boat is passing Sunset Pier with a load of passengers heading out to watch the sunset on one of the most popular sunset packages offered out of Key West.

Fury calls their package "Commotion on the Ocean" because it features top musicians from Nashville as well as local talent playing all your favorites. In addition they have free munchies, beer and margaritas. When folks get off this sunset cruise they have had a good time.

How nice it is for these folks to be enjoying a sunset cruise on their sailboat. The sunset tonight was spectacular.

That is Sunset Key you see in the background.

Joyce took this picture from our table at Sunset Pier one evening.

The sailing schooner Appledore is one of the old sailing boats that take passengers out for a sail. They have daylight sails and sunset sails.

You can find the Appledore and other sunset cruise sail boats along Harbor Walk in Key West Bight Marina.

Here are some tourist enjoying a sunset sail on the Schooner Western Union. I am sure it doesn't get any better and Joyce and I are looking forward to perhaps taking the sunset sail on the Schooner Western Union in 2012. Remember you can see the Schooner Western Union along Harbor Walk in Key West Bight Marina. It was docked there during January and February when we were in Key West the winter of 2011.

This is the schooner Adirondack III sailing near Sunset Key a Luxury Island Resort operated by Westin Resorts. We are watching the Adirondack III and other boats from Sunset Pier in Key West.

Sunset Pier and Mallory Square are our favorite spots to watch the sunset when visiting Key West.

While visiting Key West, Florida there are myriad water based activities. However, a classic schooner sail – a day sail or sunset sail – is the quintessential Key West activity that many choose. It is sure to be the highlight of your Key West experience and be the lasting memory.

Joyce took this picture from Mallory Square one evening.

The Appledore docks in Key West Bight Marina along Harbor Walk so if you want to take a cruise that is where you can find it.

When watching the Key West "Sunset" from Mallory Square or Sunset Pier one of the enjoyable things to see is the variety of sail boats cruising by.

One of the most spectacular is the Jolly II Roger with it's bright red sails. Of course you can not tell what color the sails are in this picture.

Sunset Key is the island on the right side of this picture.

The Jolly II Rover docks in Key West Bight Marina along Harbor Walk so that is where you can find it if you want to enjoy one of these sunset sails.
