Lookout Mountain Nature Center Golden, ColoradoJune 16th and 17th 2006 has us in Golden, Colorado (just west of Denver). We are in Clear Creek City Park N39° 45.197' W105° 13.193'. The campground is located on the south side of 10th street at the end of the road. Clear Creek City Campground is one of the nicest (location wise) campgrounds you can stay in (our opinion). located on Clear Creek 3-blocks from downtown Golden. They have paved interior roads with small backin sites (mature trees are so wonderful); 50-amps, water and sewer, $28.91 per-night 303-278-1437. There is a 2-week max stay before you have to leave the park and they do not take reservations. Today, after visiting the Golden Farmer's Market, we are going to take a scenic drive on what is known as the Lariat Loop. The Lariat Loop will take us through several interesting places. Lookout Mountain will be the first stop where we will visit Buffalo Bill's Grave and the Lookout Mountain Nature Center. Both are places you should visit when in the area. This travel adventure is obviously going to cover the Lookout Mountain Nature Center. Lariat Loop Scenic Drive: Lookout Mountain Road
Tiring of the Golden Farmer's Market we headed out of Golden on the Lariat Loop a scenic drive well known in these parts. The Lariat Loop envelopes the natural, historic and scenic features of the foothills just a few miles west of Golden. Leaving Golden we head up Lookout Mountain Road the mountain immediately west of Golden. These pillars mark the entrance to the Lariat Trail on Lookout Mountain.

Joyce made a great sunset picture of Table Mountain from the park near our campground. That picture was in our Golden Farmer's Market Travel Adventure.

The Lookout Mountain Nature Center is a place you will want to visit when exploring the area around Golden, Colorado.
View of Interstate 70 from Lookout MountainLeaving the Lookout Mountain Nature center and continuing our Scenic Drive on Lariat Loop we start falling off Lookout Mountain. That is I-75 west of Denver and Golden. I suspect that snowcapped mountain in the distance is Mount Evans. As we drop down the western side of Lookout Mountain we can see beautiful snow capped mountains to our west and I-70 down below. The next place we visit on our Lariat Loop Scenic Drive will be Evergreen, Colorado.
