Clear Creek Whitewater Park is one of Golden's most unique recreational attractions. Built for recreational canoeing and kayaking the course is one quarter of a mile of good, clean fun

There are no fees for drop-in usage and the course is unsupervised. Parking is located at Lions Park, the ballfields and adjacent areas. Vanover Park is also available for parking and provides a take-out site for those continuing downstream after maneuvering the course

Every afternoon in June these kayakers gather in Clear Creek near the Clear Creek City RV-Park and practice maneuvers in the fast flowing creek.

The Creek is flowing fast with snow melt. It will not be flowing like this much longer so they are taking advantage of it.

The kayakers gather in an eddy to the side of the main rush of water and wait their turn to enter the mayhem created when the swollen creek rushes over an obstacle in the creek bed.

Virtually all rides end up like this. If it doesn't ----- it means that the kayaker wasn't daring enough in the stunt he was practicing and the other kayakers give him a hard time.

Spectators shout at the participants like spectators at ball games, taunting and jeering trying to get them to do more and more difficult maneuvers. It is a blast to watch.

We were visiting Clear Creek Whitwater Park in mid June and the water was snow melt and VERY cold.

It is actually amazing the stunts they can perform in those craft. They do rolls and flips plus 180's and 360's. The end over flips were my favorite. The crowd on the bank applauds for good efforts and great spills.
