This ficus or strangler fig tree with its unique aerial root system is located on the corner of Eaton and Whitehead Street in Key West. This strangler fig tree is also on the Post Office property and 1&1/2 blocks north of a giant kapok tree located in front of the Monroe County Courthouse on Whitehead Street.

Less than a block north of this corner is a magnificent banyan tree at the Banyan Tree Resort.

Joyce and I walk past this stately old royal poinciana tree on Whitehead several times a day when we are in Key West.

When royal poinciana trees are in bloom they are a stunningly beautiful tree.

This living arrangement is typical in Key West. Houses have very little "yard", and no garage. Residents typically park their bicycle or scooters on the sidewalks in front of their house. Virtually, every street in Old Town Key West has a sidewalk on both sides of the street.

People in Key West walk a lot since there is no place to park a car and bicycle and motorscooter parking is not a lot better.
