Campground at St. Andrews State Park
August 10th thru 22nd This is a travellog that covers an adventure covering 8-days on Panama City Beach where we stayed at St. Andrews State Park
Campground info: St. Andrews State Park is a huge campground with paved interior roads and dirt sites, on the water with electricity & water but central dump station for $26.16 a night. Keep in mind that Florida State Parks have a 14-day limit on the number of consecutive days in one park, in other words a snow bird can't settle into a spot in a Florida State Park for the winter. However, they can move from State Park to State Park. If you can't find a campground like the one in St Andrews State Park then you need to locate a 1/2 price PPA Campground.
Gulls & Terns on Beach, a short walk from the campground at St Andrews State Park
Joyce took this picture while walking along the beach in St. Andrews State Park. While it is a "beach" picture the spot is located on the point where Grand Lagoon meets the Pass into the Gulf of Mexico. This spot is an easy walk from the campground at St Andrews State Park. There was a good variety of gulls and terns resting on this bit of beach.
Gulls & terns on beach an easy walk from campground at St Andrews State Park
Either we got too close or a passing boat disturbed these birds. They took to the air briefly, before settling back in the same spot.
The jetty at St Andrews State Park is one of the attractions for the campground
This picture is looking east along the beach toward the jetty protecting the western side of the pass leading into St.Andrews Bay. While you can walk to this location from the campground in St Andrews State Park it is easier for us drive, since there is a nice parking lot at the beach.
The jetty & sea oats, not to mention the awesome beach are major attractions for camping at St Andrews State Park
Sea oats are beautiful this time of year and St. Andrews State Park does a good job of protecting them. When you sta in the campground at St Andrews State Park this is what you get on the side.
Great egret near the campground at St Andrews State Park
This great egret was "fishing" in Grand Lagoon near the campground at St Andrews State Park. Note that this "fisherman" is not going to have to visit the fish market for his lunch.
Alligator in Gator Pond, an easy walk from the campground, at St Andrews State Park
Alligator in one of the fresh water ponds in St.Andrews State Park. This small alligator appears to be about 5' long.
