Kerrville Schreiner City Park

Kerrville Schreiner City Park 2385 Bandera highway in Kerrville

April 18 - 22, 2007.

We are staying in the Kerrville Schreiner City Park in Kerrville. A few years ago this was Kerrville Schreiner State Park. It is located on the Guadalupe River in the city limits of Kerrville on SR-173 one of the two highways between Kerrville and Bandera. Our site is FHU costing $15 per-night plus a $5 entrance fee (annual fee is only $25) so is insignificant if spending more than a few days.

Kerrville Schreiner City Park is one of our favorite Hill Country places because of the wildlife, deer in particular.

Kerrville-Schreiner Park began as a city park built by the C.C.C. in the 1930's then deeded to the State of Texas and became a State Park. On February 13, 2004, Kerrville-Schreiner Park was transferred back to the City of Kerrville under authority of Texas House Bill 2108. Improvements to the park included the addition of sewer connections to both RV camping loops on the river side of the park, 23 new mini-cabins, shoreline stabilization and water sports area development, renovation of restrooms and group facilities.

Kerrville Schreiner City Park has 62 RV sites, 58 tent campsites, 23 mini- cabins and 1 park cabin. They have group, meeting and reunion facilities. Wildflowers, wildlife and the Guadalup River are just some of what attracts campers to this well-maintained camping, RV recreation park. Kerrville Schreiner City Park is more than 500 acres reaching from the banks of the Guadalupe River to the deer-filled hills.

Jack rabbits, like this one, come out in the evening to eat the lush grass. We seldom see jack rabbits when visiting in the area but seem to always see them in Kerrville Schreiner City Park in Kerrville.
