Joyce took this picture of the facility (Monument Lake Resort) at Monument Lake. Note the Spanish influence. Monument Lake Resort was constructed by the WPA in 1937. Monument Lake is located 37-miles from Trinidad on the Scenic Highway of Legends. The Grubsteak Cafe features fine dining in a rustic atmosphere.

Joyce took this beautiful entrance to a property in Stonewall, Colorado between Trinidad and Cuchara on the Highway of Legends. The entrance to this ranch is not as impressive as the gate entrance in the above picture. However you can see the Spanish heritage speaks to one as you travel the Highway of Legends. However the name of the Ranch entrance "Terra Di Maria" says it all.
