We always enjoy a visit to the special use corrals at Turpin Meadow Campground and Trailhead. There is usually some interesting activity around these corrals. The special use corrals at Turpin Meadows Trailhead are reserved for commercial outfitters. These hunting guides or outfitters maintain stock in these corrals to transport hunters and supplies to remote base camps deep in the National Forest south of Yellowstone National Park and east of Grand Teton National Park. These are the horses used to travel into some of the most beautiful wilderness country in the world and experience life along the continental divide south of Yellowstone National Park. High country hunting camps are located twenty-five miles horseback into the Teton Wilderness from the Trailhead at Turpin Meadow in the Buffalo Valley near Moran Junction, Wyoming. It takes a lot of healthy pack animals to transport supplies to those remote camps.
