An amazing number of sea urchins had washed up on this beach in St Andrews State Park. Joyce and I do not remember ever seeing so many sea urchins washed up on the beach.

Joyce took this picture of sea urchins washed up on the beach in St Andrews State Park. Note how they have stiff bone like spines that protrude from that hollow conical body. One of the urchins in this picture has been dead long enough for most of the spines to fall out. While it may look like she staged this picture on a piece of white paper it was taken on the beach just like they washed up. The white background is pure quartz sand.

I bet you want to know why we are on Panama City Beach in St Andrews State Park.

I do not know how she did it but she found out that 5-time Grammy Award Winner B. J. Thomas was going to be performing on Panama City Beach. Joyce has always liked B. J. Thomas and his music, but has never seen him perform. Guess where we are? See, it didn't even take three guesses. VBG

Our motorhome made the uneventful 100-mile trip east along US-98, hugging the coast from Pensacola through Ft Walton Beach and Destin. We arrived at St Andrews State Park shortly after the 1PM check in time for our campsite. St Andrews State Park is our favorite campground on Panama City Beach.

Deer in St Andrews State Park

While it may look like this deer is walking in snow let me assure you that it is walking in snow-white quartz beach sand in St. Andrews State Park.

Adjacent to the campground in St Andrews State Park is a popular boat ramp. There is a fish cleaning table at the boat ramp. Pelicans gather at the cleaning table hoping for a few table scraps. That is where I took this picture.

Joyce took this picture of Panama City Beach from St Andrews State Park looking west. Today is the first day of Spring Break. By next weekend this place will be full of tourist, mostly college age, looking for and finding maximum fun.

Joyce loves the shelling on the beach at St Andrews State Park

Our family has enjoyed shelling on the beaches of St Andrews State Park for many years. Most of the time you have to be at the right place at the right time to find the perfect shell. However, there are many beachcombing opportunities in St Andrews State Park.

Joyce thought this sea gull would make a good picture so here it is.

This deer, in St Andrews State Park, was watching us take sunset pictures, look closely the deer is on the left side hidden by tree shadows.
