Sunset pictures from Henderson Beach State Park
We are camping in Henderson Beach State Park in Destin, Florida. Henderson Beach State Park has one of the nicest campgrounds you will find in any campground anywhere. If you are planning to be in the area it is a must. If you are looking for CHEAP camping you need to check out PPA Campgrounds
When we arrived in Destin Joyce had read some advertising and found some live music at Destin Commons. We didn't stay at Henderson Beach State Park very long before heading to Destin Commons and the live music.
We just love the sunsets from Henderson Beach State Park
It was late afternoon when we made it back to Henderson Beach State Park. Joyce wanted to walk on the beach and catch the sunset.
There wasn't a cloud in the sky and I reasoned that the sunset would not be worth the trouble so Joyce headed to the beach by herself. As you can see I was totally wrong. I really like sunsets peaking through clouds. The sunset tonight was brilliant but absolutely no cloud to be seen. If I would have had a clue, I would have been on the beach with her.
Sunset view looking west from Henderson Beach State Park
Looking west from Henderson Beach State Park is nothing but a long stretch of mega-condominiums. Henderson Beach State Park is truly an island of wilderness tranquility the state of Florida has saved, smack in the middle of condominium madness.
Sandpipers, bathed in sunset colors, at Henderson Beach State Park
Sandpipers frolic in tidal pools as twilight envelops on the beach.

Notice that there are no clouds, yet the sky is brilliant.
Normally, red sky at night means sailors delight or so the goes the conventional wisdom.

Sandpipers, with legs imitating a runaway sewing machine, scavenge the surf-line.
A sunset full of color from Henderson Beach State Park
For a moment the sun appears to touch the Gulf. Imagine, just imagine, this beautiful sunset is just a short walk from our campsite at Henderson Beach State Park.
Sandpipers almost washed away by the briliant sunset colors at Henderson Beach State Park
In this picture Joyce captures the awesome sunset colors in the wet surf line.
Notice in this sunset picture that the gulf is like a washing machine
In this picture Joyce captured the rough Gulf of Mexico at Henderson Beach State Park.
Henderson Beach State Park sunset picture
Look at the color above the sun. Thankfully, Joyce didn't listen to me and went to the beach to check out the sunset.
Winter sunset picture from Henderson Beach State Park
During the winter the sun sets in the southwest out over the gulf. In the summer the sun sets in the northwest so the time to get pictures like this along the northern gulf coast is during the winter.
