Cordova Pass over Spanish Peaks in south central Colorado part-2View from the gravel road taking us from Cuchara Pass to Cordova Pass
These cows were grazing on private property near Cuchara Pass. I think the name of the ranch was the Cuchara Pass Ranch.
View of a lush valley from the gravel road between Cuchara Pass and Cordova Pass
It just so happens that this beautiful valley was very near Cordova Pass. The further we traveled down this rough gravel road toward Cordova Pass the thicker the conifer forest became until we were completely shrouded in that evergreen forest.
Please do note that there is no snow. We expected to see snow when we reached 11,000' but we did not see any. Of course this is the 18th of August and we are on the eastern edge of the Rockies so I guess there wasn't a great enough accumulation over the winter to survive into mid-August. We did see snow at 11,000' a few days ago in the Big Horn Mountains, of Wyoming.

This was a rare opening in the thick conifer forest we have been in for most of our journey to Cordova Pass.
View of the Spanish Peaks from the gravel road taking to Cordova Pass
This is a momentary slight glancing view of the Spanish Peaks seen through an opening in the dense evergreen forest we have been traveling in.

View of the Cuchara Valley from the gravel road between Cuchara Pass and Cordova Pass
This opening in the evergreens gave us a view of the Cuchara Valley far in the distance. View from the gravel road taking us from Cuchara Pass to Cordova Pass
Joyce captured this close-up of the Spanish Peaks that just appeared in an open spot. For most of our journey on this rough gravel road from Cuchara Pass to Cordova Pass we were cloaked in an evergreen forest unable to see anything but those evergreens and that rough gravel road. We were only able to spot the Spanish Peaks a few times in our 6-mile journey to Cordova Pass. Click here for more Colorado travellogsUntil next time remember how good life is.
