The bicycle tire you see in this picture is on the sidewalk where thousands of people stroll by each day. Yet this feral chicken has a nest in this small front yard. One of Key West's famous feral chickens with several chicks
This feral chicken has a nest under the shade of a giant crinum lily in the front yard of a residence on Duval Street in Old Town Key West, Florida.

If you look closely you will see another chick under the mother chicken. I suspect she is also sitting on a nest of unhatched eggs as well. She did not move so I am not sure about that. Joyce took these pictures from the sidewalk only a few feet away.

Joyce and I were amazed at how close this chicken had a nest to Duval Street. This nest was within feet of a busy sidewalk where a thousand or more tourist walk every day. You have to wonder how many of the tourist spotted this chicken with chicks.
