Animals of Grand Teton National ParkAug 7-17, 2007 While in the Tetons we stayed at two of the National Park Campgrounds: Colter Bay and Gros Ventre. Both are dry camping sites and are rarely full. Both are $17 per-night to "dry camp" with central water and dump site of course if you have the "geezer-pass" the rate will be half that. There are several hundred sites in each of the campgrounds. We spent most of our time in Gros Ventre because it is located only 10-miles from Jackson, Wyoming. We love Jackson and all it has to offer. We have been in Teton National Park for over a week now. We haven't been taking as many pictures as we normally do but we have been here so many times that we are getting sensitized. What I have put together here is a smorgasbord of animal pictures that I thought would be interesting, especially to people who have not visited the Tetons.
Large bull buffalo enjoying the sunset
I liked this solitary bull silhouetted against the setting sun near our Gross Ventre Campground.
Moose resting along the Moose Junction to Wilson Road
We spotted this large moose resting beside a stream along the Moose Junction to Wilson Road.
Canada geese in pasture along Wilson Road
Pastures along the Moose Junction to Wilson Road are covered with Canada geese.
Pronghorn antelope in Antelope Flats near Gros Ventre Campground
Antelope were in the sagebrush flats east of Gros Ventgre campground but for the most part were always too far away from the road for us to get a good picture.
Large bull buffalo in Gros Ventre Campground
One morning the large bull buffalo ambled through the campground. We heard the noise as tenters scattered. Joyce went outside with the camera and got this picture as he passed the campground checkin office.
