You have to love this setting for a dining table. Common mynah feeding on table scraps at Hogfish Grill in Key West
This is a common mynah, but they are not so common. At least they are not common in the United States. It seems they are very common in some places. They are not native to the United States and it appears they are not welcome. The common mynah is a type of starling. We have see a pair of these common mynah birds feeding in the grass outside our motorhome on Trumbo Point in Key West. A few years ago we saw some around Lake Okeechobee in south Florida. You may not find these birds in a bird book. Three of the four bird books that we carry did not mention the common mynah. In case you are wondering a pair of common mynah birds were feeding on table scraps along the dock at Hogfish Grill.
Brown pelican begging for food at Hogfish Grill in Key West
Several brown pelicans were waiting for customers to throw bread or cracker crumbs to the circling sea gulls. The scraps that the sea gulls missed fall in the water attracting small fish. The pelican is there to catch those small fish that come up to eat the bread and cracker crumbs. As far as we are concerned the pelicans are there for our entertainment.

Mike has that smile on his face because he knows the Havana Roast Pork is about to arrive at our table.
One of the resident roosters at Hogfish Grill in Key West
In addition to common mynah birds, brown pelicans and sea gulls a family of chickens also calls the Hogfish Grill home. This rooster is just one of the roosters that hang out around the Hogfish Grill. For those that might not know feral chickens are all over Stock Island and Key West where they are protected by city ordinances.

Menu from Hogfish Grill in Key West, Florida
We like the Havana Roast Pork and always share it as a meal.
The Creamy Lobster Bisque is also excellent.
We seem to always split a piece of key lime pie as well.
Everyone loves the Hogfish sandwich.
