Red Rocks Amphitheater as viewed from our parking spot on the lower southeast side of Red Rocks Amphitheater We are going to walk from here to the Amphitheater for Willie Nelson's Throwdown that starts at 3pm and continues until around midnight. Actually, we are here to see Craig Campbell perform.

Red Rocks Amphitheater is located between those two huge sandstone monoliths. The stage is located at the bottom.

We took this picture as we walked to the amphitheater from one of the lower south parking lots. Although we are out of breath here we still have a LONG way to climb.

Locate the red sandstone monolith that makes up the left side of this picture. Then locate the dark stairs you see on the sandstone. That is where we are headed. We are headed to Red Rocks Amphitheater to see Craig Campbell perform. Craig is one of the artist performing with the Willie Nelson Throwdown Concert.

We are on the road leading to the stairs you see that will take us to the bottom of the amphitheater. We are already winded from our walk from the parking lot. I am fairly certain we are going to be taking several "breaks" before we finally get to the amphitheater.

Oxygen at over 6,000' is nearly nonexistent, especially for those of us from places at sea level.

We took a picture from those stairs. Look for it below.

The red rocks of Red Rocks Park and Red Rocks Amphitheater are sandstone, shale and conglomerate deposited here around 300-million years ago. The red color comes from chemical changes in the iron mineral hematite.

This huge monolith of red sandstone was on on the south side of Red Rocks Amphitheater We took the picture as we climbed the stairs from the parking area to the amphitheater.

This is the picture we took from those stairs to Red Rocks Amphitheater We took the picture on one of our stops for oxygen. VBG
