Paul Hill at Two Rivers Campground Nashville

May 29 to June 3, 2008

We are staying in Two Rivers Campground near Opry Land in northeast Nashville over the Memorial Day weekend. Two Rivers is the private campground we recommend for anyone visiting Nashville. We like it because it is $21 cheaper than the next best campground. When staying at Two Rivers Campground we pay $31 for water & 30-amps. Full-hookup and 50-amps are a bit more. But, and it is a big BUT the Yogi Bear Campground next door starts at $51 and goes up while the KOA a block away starts somewhere above that and the sky is the limit. In Nashville you are paying for LOCATION and Two Rivers Campground has LOCATION. Besides that they sponsor good entertainment in the park several times a week.

We always look for a 1/2 Price PPA Campground when we visit an area.

Paul Hill performs from 7pm till 9pm several times a week at Two Rivers Campground on Music Road in Nashville. Paul has exceptional vocals and is a great performer waiting for his chance to go big time. Paul has been performing at Two Rivers Campground on Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoons for as long as I can remember. When you are in Nashville this is an act you need to take in.

Seriously you do need to stop by Two Rivers Campground and enjoy Paul Hill's show. If you have an RV, I would also recommend selecting Two Rivers Campground as your RV Park of choice when visiting Nashville. The staff and owners are extremely friendly.

The couple sitting next to us said that they had gone to the Grand Old Opry last night and Paul was "much better". I just love it! They had shelled out over $100 (probably closer to $200) for their Grand Old Opry tickets and this was a better show.

Mel McDaniel is a household name for old country music fans. Some of the younger folks will remember some of Mel's Number one Country Hits like: Louisiana Saturday Night, Baby's got her Blue Jeans On, Standup, I'm Countrified, Stand on it, Can't Sing the Blues in an Air-conditioned Room, Blue Mississippi, Free Bird and Wish I Was in Nashville.

We have stayed with the folks at Two Rivers Campground on Music Valley Drive in Nashville for years. From our first visit they made us feel like family. We have returned to their campground over and over since then. Two Rivers Campground is our Campground of choice in Nashville because of its choice location (2616 Music Valley Drive) for those of you that might want to plug that address into a mapping program. When I say Two Rivers Campground has "location" I am referring to the fact that it is just down the street from Opry Land and the Gaylord Convention Center & Hotel, and an easy drive to downtown Nashville.

Another reason we like staying at Two Rivers Campground is because of the variety of entertainment close by.

After leaving the downtown honky tonks around 10pm, when things start to get "hopping" at the Broadway honky tonks, we sometimes stop by the Nashville Palace located on McGavock Pike near the Gaylord Convention Center/Hotel & new Grand Old Old Opry, which is just down the street from Two Rivers Campground.. By 10pm the crowd has thinned at Nashville Palace and we are able to enjoy the band and the dance floor until we run out of steam around midnight. I am not sure how much longer the action continues, I just know how much we can take. If you are staying in the area around Two Rivers Campground and the new Grand Old Opry you may enjoy spending an evening at the Nashville Palace. The place features several live bands and earlier in the evening families gather there to dine. Later on it is mostly adults that want to take advantage of the live music and the dance floor. In any event it is a place for good family fun.

Another entertainment opportunity close to the Two Rivers Campground is Earnest Tubbs place. One Saturday night at midnight we stopped by Earnest Tubbs place for their live "radio broadcast". We had absolutely no idea what we were about to experience but many people in the know said that this was something that we must do -- so we did. Die-hard country music fans probably already know about the Grand Ole Opry radio show and --- the "Midnight Jamboree". Since we are "Johnny come lateley's" to Country Music we have never listened to the Grand Ole Opry radio show much less the "Midnight Jamboree". Shoot, we didn't even know there was one. VBG Now we not only know there is a Grand Ole Opry radio show but also a Midnight Jamboree show. It seems that Earnest Tubb was a regular on the Grand Ole Opry back in the 1940's with his band the "Texas Troubadours". Now we know what the Earnest Tubb Record Shop and the building with "Texas Troubadours" advertised in neon lights is all about.

The Midnight Jamboree on this night featured a band known as Daily & Vincent a bluegrass band that has several songs in the top 10.

Dailey & Vincent are also featured on the cover of the Bluegrass Unlimited June issue, with a story written by Jon Weisberger. For more information, visit www.bluegrassmusic.com.

In addition to performing several of their top songs they introduced a special guest, Jimmy Fortune from the Statler Brothers.

Wow! What a night, errrr make that what a night and morning. VBG We aren't made to stay up past 2am at this age. Ouch!

One day we went for an afternoon cruise on the General Jackson Showboat that boards jusd down the road from where we are staying at Two Rivers Campground. Check these links to read about our adventure on the General Jackson Showboat: Peking Acrobats, Delta Queen, General Jackson, Joyce touring the wheelhouse on the General Jackson.
