Slide Lake on the Gros Ventre River was created by the Gros Ventre Slide back in 1925 when the north end of Sleeping Indian Mountain in the Gros Ventre Wilderness east of Jackson, Wyoming. Slide Lake in the Gros Ventre Wilderness near Kelly, Wyoming
Slide Lake is muddy because of the mud being carried by the swollen Gros Ventre River from deep in the Gros Ventre Wilderness. In other years this lake has been a clear blue, but this year there was a lot of snow and as a result a lot of water flowing out of the mountains.

A beautiful ranch is located across Slide Lake located just 6-miles upstream from Kelly, Wyoming. Slide Lake was created when the Gros Ventre Landslide crated a dam across the Gros Ventre River that is still in place today. View of Slide Lake from a bluff overlooking the lake
Slide Lake is so much more beautiful when it is deep blue but we are not going to see that beautiful blue color this summer there was just too much snow melting in the higher elevations carrying mud and silt down stream.
