		Oregon Buttes near South Pass in Wyoming Oregon Buttes are located off Wyoming SR-28 a little west of South Pass City, Wyoming This is the sign that greets you when you turn off Wyoming SR-28 and head south on a dirt road in search of Oregon Buttes. Dirt road to Oregon Buttes near South Pass City, Wyoming Wyoming is famous for dirt roads and this one is no exception. Actually, their dirt/gravel roads are not bad, just dusty. Honestly, I can see why they do not pave them since they get so little rain the roads tend to stay in good condition. Dirt Road to Oregon Buttes near South Pass City, Wyoming This is what travelers on the Oregon Trail saw day in and day out when heading west on the Oregon Trail as they made their way across South Pass in south central, Wyoming. I imagine that it was quartz bearing rock like this that contained the gold miners were looking for not far away in South Pass City and Atlantic City.
