Fire damages Treasure Ship Restaurant on Panama City Beach

Fire burns Treasure Ship

We were staying on Panama City Beach at St Andrews State Park in our motorhome. We drive past the Treasure Ship almost anytime we leave the State Park. It is an icon on Panama City Beach yet it burned recently.

The front end of the Treasure Ship seems to have received the most fire damage.

That is a concrete wall behind the facad of wood. As you can see it was the exterior facad that was really burned by the fire at the Treasure Ship. Workers said the interior had smoke damage but otherwise was fine.

This is a view of thebow of the Treasure Ship showing extensive fire damage.

That is a concete interior wall with steel 2X4 pieces used to hold the facad in place.

Workers told us the majority of the damage is to the facad we see here.

Treasure ship closed because of the fire but Marina is still open for business

Treasure Ship Restaurant burned in fire

The Treasure Ship has been a landmark on Panama City Beach since 1978. Something tells me that the 2010 summer season is a bust. It is early May and there is no way this place will be ready for the June, July, August tourist season.

Crews from Paul Davis Restoration were hard at work repairing the fire damaged Treasure Ship

Crews from Paul Davis Restoration were hard at work tearing out the damaged areas and removing smoke damaged furniture and things from the dining area of the Treasure Ship.

Workers told us that the interior was not damaged bad at all. Of course everyting got wet and has smoke damage.

From what we can see there is extensive damage to the facad.

We all hope the Treasure Ship damaged by fire will be up and back in business as soon as possible, a lot of people depend on the Treasure Ship for jobs.
