Ocean Going Tug Miss Ann

We saw the ocean going tug Miss Ann one day in October of 2010 docked at the marina in downtown Panama City, Florida. We stopped by to take pictures and talk with the crew. They were loading groceries, I might add a LOT of groceries. I asked where they were headed and they said they had a barge to pick up in Louisiana and they were delivering it to some place in Central America. They said they were out of Miami, Florida and said they were here in Panama City because it offered cheap dock space between trips.

This is a very big ocean going tug boat.

These are the winches that are used to store the huge steel cable that connects to the barge under tow.

Keep in mind that the Miss Ann is a tow boat not a push boat. The difference being this tug pulls a barge on the open ocean via a very long cable and this is the drumb & winch that holds that cable.
