Crazy Woman Road out of Buffalo, Wyoming part-2View from Crazy Woman Road southwest of Buffalo, Wyoming
We were greeted with this view immediately after emerging from Crazy Woman Canyon. The transition from an awesome canyon with steep sided cliffs on each side to this view was stunning to say the least. This view is looking east with the Big Horn Mountains and Crazy Woman Canyon directly behind us. I guess we were too stunned with this scenery to even think about turning around and taking a picture in the other direction. What were we thinking? Good question! All I can say now is that this view, upon emerging from that steep sided Crazy Woman Canyon, was so shocking neither of us even thought of turning around to look at where we had been. From here east to I-90 (10 to 15-miles) is stunningly beautiful ranch land much like this. View of Crazy Woman Creek & Valley from Crazy Woman Road southwest of Buffalo, Wyoming
We stopped the car and got out to take this picture of Crazy Woman Valley. Joyce was standing on the edge of Crazy Woman Road looking east down the valley. Buffalo, Wyoming is around 20-miles in the distance as is I-90. Crazy Woman Creek that runs through Crazy Woman Canyon is providing the water keeping the valley green.
Solitary bull waiting on the ladies along Crazy Woman Road southwest of Buffalo, Wyoming
This solitary bull was out by Crazy Woman Road watching for some rancher to arrive with an 18-wheeler load of ladies. Nah! but he did appear to realize that we did not have any ladies for him in our Saturn. :-)
Old ranch entrance along Crazy Woman Road southwest of Buffalo, Wyoming
This appears to be an old ranch entrance gate that is now being used to access the alfalfa field from Crazy Woman Road. Ranch houses and buildings in this area appear to be situated in the valley along Crazy Woman Creek. Massive hay storage along Crazy Woman Road southwest of Buffalo, Wyoming
The sun was to our back and spotlighting this awesome staging area for hay. From the looks of that extremely high fence around this hay it might be used by this rancher to feed his cattle this winter vice being staged for shipment elsewhere.
Ranch pond along Crazy Woman Road southwest of Buffalo, Wyoming
This beautiful ranch lake was located near that huge stash of hay.
Pronghorn making escape from Crazy Woman Road southwest of Buffalo, Wyoming
Pronghorn were abundant along the open areas around Crazy Woman Road. Seeing pronghorn and getting pictures of pronghorn are two different matters. Pronghorn do not pay much attention to moving vehicles. However, when a vehicle slows or stops they run like the wind. This one realized we were slowing down and of course took off like a streak of lightning. If, by chance, you are dying to know why everything is called "Crazy Woman" don't feel like the Lone Ranger. I wanted to know myself so I searched for the answer. If you really want to know I explain it in this travel log from Buffalo, Wyoming.
