Joyce took this picture from an overlook area north of Story, Wyoming
Joyce, took this picture from an overlook on SR-193 a mile or so north of Story, Wyoming. The overlook was showcasing this beautiful area in the eastern foothills of the Big Horn Mountains. If you are not familiar with where this is think around 15-miles south of Sheridan, Wyoming and about 2-miles west of I-90 and the view is looking to the northwest. It is stunningly beautiful country. Story, Wyoming which is just a mile or so from this location is in a heavily wooded area at a higher elevation. It is an obvious retreat area from the rather harsh summer environment in the surrounding area. From what we could see as we drove around in Story it attracted individuals with above average income that just wanted to "chill". Individuals that enjoyed sharing nature. Turkey and deer wandered around in yards and through the business district like stray cats in a big city. Everyone seemed to take pride in their flowers and natural yards with native trees being protected, preserved and showcased. All in all it looked like a cool place to spend the summer.

I suspect that the "SUMMER" population is double that or more since there are so many inns and other facilities there. There also appears to be a good number of second-homes or summer-homes if you prefer. Of course we do not know that for a fact, it was just the way it appeared to us as we drove through the town.

Joyce took this picture of a turkey family wandering through a residential area of Story, Wyoming
Wild turkey and deer were common sights in residential yards and throughout the business district in Story, Wyoming. While we are on the subject, seeing deer and turkey in yards is one thing. Getting acceptable photographs of them is another subject. Trust me, we take a lot of pictures that are just not of enough quality to use. Plus, it is obvious neither of us are professional photographers! :-)
