When originally constructed the old Seven Mile RR Bridge spanning the water between Knight's Key and Little Duck Key was the largest and most impressive component of what some referred to as "the 8th Wonder of the World". And the 8th Wonder of the World at that time was the Overseas Highway connecting Key West with mainland Florida.

Joyce took this picture of both bridges just after getting on the Seven Mile Bridge where both bridges were very close together. As you can see in this picture the two bridges slowly move apart.

This remnant of the old Seven Mile Bridge is used by birds as both a nesting site and refuge.

Pigeon Key can be accessed by a walking path from the Old Seven Mile Bridge. As you can see the new Seven Mile Bridge passes by Pigeon Key with no access.
