Mooch was a patient at the Key West Wildlife Rescue Center a few years ago. When he was rehabilitated he was released. Mooch is now a free bird but has decided to remain free but hang around and "mooch" the free food.

Mooch is the poster child for the American Welfare System. Help them once and they expect you to feed them for life.

In case some of you do not understand why this great egret was named "Mooch", the Urban Dictionary defines Mooch as follows:

A scab or freeloader who comes to your house uninvited and overstays his welcome and proceeds to eat all your food, stink up your bathroom, take all your drugs and just generally leech all the blood from your body during their stay.

Someone who wants something for free -- someone who takes and takes but doesn't give back.

Freeloader

A sponge. A person who shows up every evening at dinner time. A person who wants other people to pay his way.

Someone who wants something for free ... someone who takes and takes but doesn't give.

Workers at the Key West Wildlife Rescue Center named this great egret after he decided to hang around and "mooch" after being released several years ago.

A scab or freeloader who comes to your house and overstays his welcome and proceeds to eat all your food, stink up your bathroom, take all your drugs and just generally leech all the blood from your body during their stay.

Mooch the great egret fits that definition to a "T". He has been hanging around for the handouts for several years.

Just like a guest that overstays his welcome Mooch is still hanging around the Key West Wildlife Rescue Center totally addicted to the free handouts.

So when you visit the Key West Wildlife Rescue Center look for Mooch the great egret and speak to him.

If you are interested, the Key West Wildlife Rescue Center is located on the extreme south end of White street. While there make sure you walk back to turtle pond and look for the large iguana sunning themselves in the trees on the far side of the pond.
