This sign is on US-1 through Big Pine Key. Notice the fence along US-1 that is keeping those small endangered Key Deer from venturing onto US-1.

Note the speed limit on US-1 which is the only highway to and from Key West.

Warning signs for Endangered Key Deer on US-1 and Big Pine Key

US-1 through Big Pine Key has a fence to keep the endangered Key Deer off this busy highway. Key deer are really small so that fence is adequate to keep them off US-1.

Even with the fence speed is reduced to 45-mph through Big Pine Key in a supreme effort to protect any stray Key Deer from being injured or killed by automobiles.

Although these protected Key Deer eat everyone's plants residents seem to get along with them.
