Clear Creek RV Park operated by City of Golden, Colorado

We are not staying in Clear Creek RV Park this time. They do not take reservations so it is first come first serve and the place is usually full. You can stay for 14-days and as I recall the cost is around $30 a night. This year we called as we were entering Denver to see if they had a vacancy. It was Friday afternoon and they did not have a vacancy so we headed to the Jefferson County Fair Grounds a few miles away. The Jefferson County Fair Grounds is only $20 a night so we just stayed there for our entire stay in the area rather than move.

Clear Creek RV Park (Campground) is located in Downtown Golden, Colorado at the West end of 10th Street and is operated by the City of Golden. What a wonderful place for visitors. Other tourist locations would do well to copy Golden with an RV-Park of their own.

Clear Creek Whitewater Park

Dedicated in 1998, the Clear Creek Whitewater Park is one of Golden's most unique recreational attractions. Built for recreational canoeing and kayaking the course is one quarter of a mile of good, clean fun!

This innovative recreational experience is divided into sections. The course is 800 feet in length, built with natural boulders and divided into sections. The top is a series of drops and pools of different experience levels and has some fast eddies. The middle portion consists of flat, broad, shallow surf waves with huge random boulders--a prime workplace for gates. The bottom section entertains paddlers with more extreme surf and wave drops.

The class of this course will require paddlers proficient on fast moving, cold water, particularly during high flow season. There are no fees for drop-in usage and the course is unsupervised. Parking is located at Lions Park, the ballfields and adjacent areas. Vanover Park is also available for parking and provides a take-out site for those continuing downstream after maneuvering the course.

Water sports that we have witnessed along Clear Creek include kayaking, body surfing, tubing and whatever this dude is doing. It is an extreme sport and is really exciting to watch in the spring run off.

Clear Creek near downtown Golden, Colorado

There is a paved walkway along Clear Creek in Golden. It is a well used exercise path by both locals and visitors alike.

From the Clear Creek RV Park it is an easy walk to Downtown Golden, the Public Library and virtually anywhere you wish to go in Golden.
