Nashville Attraction

We are staying at Poole Knobs COE Campground near Smyrna, TN.: $9 a night with elect & water (we have the National Park systems 1/2 price geezer pass) so if you aren't 62 years old or disabled yet it will cost you $18. Smyrna and Poole Knobs COE Campground, is about 20-miles SE of downtown Nashville. We are on site # 41 and it is a beautiful site but there are many wonderful sites.

When a wonderful COE Campground like Pool Knobs is not available we look for a 1/2 price PPA Campground.

Purity Dairy Tour

Purity Dairy Tour

On the way into Broadway Street and honky tonk row we stopped by Purity Dairy for their Dairy Tour. The Purity milk & ice cream processing plant is only a couple of miles from downtown Nashville. The Purity Tour is just OK, not great. Instead of a tour it was nothing more than a film, a very dated film at that. But they did give ice cream samples after the film. Now that was good.

This is a picture of a milk tanker truck delivering raw milk from outlying dairies to the Purity processing plant here in Nashville..

The Purity Dairy processing plant, where we watched the dairy video, bottles milk and makes cottage cheese and a wide variety of ice cream. These are the Purity trucks that deliver their products to middle-Tennessee stores.

We did the 1:00 Purity Dairy Tour so that we could spend the afternoon and evening on honky tonk row. Needless to say, after the tour, we headed to Nashville's honky tonk row on Broadway Street.

General Jackson Showboat on Cumberland River Nashville, TN

General Jackson Showboat on Cumberland River Nashville, TN

This river boat was on the Cumberland River directly behind the Wild Horse Saloon. People with suit cases were boarding. I wonder where this cruise takes them?

Titan Stadium Nashville, Tennessee

Across the river from downtown Nashville is the stadium where the Tennessee Titans play.

No honky tonks over there. VBG

On 2nd street near the corner of Broadway is the Charlie Daniel's Museum and gift shop. It is one of those places you want to wander through when you are in Nashville.

Carriage Rides Nashville, Tennessee

Carriage Rides Nashville, Tennessee

A large number of carriage rides operate in downtown Nashville. This particular carriage had a cute way of attracting attention. The driver was eating ice cream and that poor dog wanted some. I do not think the dog got any. This just proves there is more entertainment on Broadway in Nashville than honky tonks. VBG

Tootsies Honky Tonk on Broadway

Tootsies Honky Tonk

When you are visiting Nashville you want to walk down Broadway and sample the music in several of the honky tonks especially between 5th and 6th. This is the band that was performing in Tootsies honky tonk but we did not stay long. They were good but we knew even better entertainment could be found in one of the other honky tonks.

J. D. Simo at Robert's Honky Tonk on Broadway

Roberts Honky Tonk on Broadway Nashville

We enjoyed this band earlier in the week when they were performing at Robert's honky tonk. JD Simo, the lead guitar player, is top notch. Dave Roe, the base guitar player, toured with Johnny Cash's road band for 10-years.

Demo's Steak and Spaghetti House

Demo's Steak and Spaghetti House

We have sampled a good many dining places while in Nashville. Demos' Steak & Spaghetti House is really great and the price is right. Heck, the price is great, as in cheaper than hamburgers in most of the places. Demos' is located on the corner of 3rd and Commerce Street which is the same corner our parking garage was located on. This is the only eating place we were really happy with and would recommend. We plan to return.

That pretty much summs up this honky tonkin experience on Braodway in Nashville.
