Key West Boat Adventure
February 15 through 22, 2008 We are on Steve Trawick's yacht Smilin Time heading to the boat yard on Stock Island in the Florida Keys near Key West. We spent the night on the Smilin Time in the Atlantic Oecan off Cudjo Key. Just as we had finished breakfast this morning, Jerry Andrews arrived on a Boston Whaler. Jerry came out from Cudjo Key to be our guide into the boat yard on Stock Island. Jerry is the Captain/owner of the Entertainer Charter Boat on Pensacola Beach. He knows the water around here almost as good as he does the water around Pensacola. We were fortunate to have someone with his knowledge to guide us through the reefs and into the boat yard on Stock Island. Rusty, Jerry's long time deckhand on the Entertainer was on the Boston Whaler along with Mr. Andrews (Jerry's Dad). After dropping Jerry off on the Smilin Time, they headed back to the Andrews house. They would drive our automobile from the Andrew's house to the Stock Island boat yard. It was a 20-mile run to the Stock Island boat yard. When we arrived Rusty and Mr. Andrews were there to greet us. Within minutes the boat yards travel lift had the Smilin Time on dry land.

As we get close to the Stock Island Boat Yard we start seeing boats and yachts tied up along the waterfront.

No matter how big your yacht is there is always one bigger. This is a really big one. Amen!
Fast Cat to Dry Tortugas
This is the "Fast Cat" a boat that transports tourist from Key West to Dry Tortugas located about 70-miles west of Key West. It is tied up at the Stock Island boat yard where we are headed. They were changing out one of their diesel engines.

Sunrise from the boat yard on Stock Island. Not all sunrises are spectacular but this one does showcase all the gulf shrimp boats docked at Stock Island.

This is a beautiful Gulf Shrimp boat that was at in the boat yard for some minor welding before heading back to the Gulf.

These large Gulf Shrimp boats were tied up behind the fish house on Stock Island.
