US 26 around Bull Lake in WyomingWind River Valley south of Dubois with Wind River Range in the background
Joyce had to take this picture facing the sun so you do not see the awesome snowpack still covering the Wind River Range in the distance. What you can see is the lush green agricultural area in the Wind River Valley south of Dubois and Bull Lake.
Sedimentary formation exposed by the Wind River with the Wind River Range in the background
As you can see this part of Wyoming is arid except for the irrigated areas along the Wind River. There is still a lot of snow on the Wind River Range above 7,000-feet.
The Wind River is flooding pasture lands southeast of Bull Lake on US-26
The massive snowpack in the Wind River Range is melting fast and creating flood conditions along the entire length of the Wind River here in Wyoming. In the bottom right corner of this picture you can see flooding caused by the Wind River overflowing it's banks.
Wind River Range and the Wind River in flood stage south of Bull Lake on US-26
The Wind River in flood stage south of Dubois and Bull Lake. As you can see there is a lot of snow still in the Wind River Range so this flooding is only going to get worse.
The Wind River is flooding pasture lands southeast of Bull Lake on US-26
This picture of wind river flooding was taken a little east of the US-26/US-287 intersection south of Dubois. That is a ranch you see here that has been flooded. There was a house somewhere out there that was at least 1/2 way submerged. This motorcycle was traveling with us around Bull Lake on US-26
These folks were traveling north on US-287 from Lander and got ahead of our motorhome at the intersection of US-287 & US-26. We are both heading to Dubois at this point. We should be approaching Bull Lake when this picture was taken. Click here for more Wyoming travellogsUntil next time remember how good life is.
