Chartered in 1788 Glynn Academy High School is the 2nd oldest public high school in the American South. It is also the fifth oldest public high school in the United States. There are eight buildings on the Glynn Academy Campus located a 1001 Mansfield Street, Brunswick, Georgia.

The historic building of Glynn Academy High School in Brunswick, Georgia are nestled among majestic Live Oak Trees. As you can see from this picture the students are provided with an awesome atmosphere in which to mingle on campus before class and during their lunch breaks. At least that is my memory of years past.

The Glynn Academy Building serves as the main administrative building. It also houses the Memorial Auditorium. As a member of the Class of 1965 I recall sitting on the brick wall in front of the Glynn Academy Building visiting with my classmates during lunch hour and before the first bell rang to begin our school day.

The Liberty bell in front of the Glynn Academy Building is a near replica of the Liberty Bell in Independence Hall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is mounted on a red brick base and totals about 2,000 pounds. In 1897, the bell was cast in bronze by McShane Foundry in Baltimore, Maryland and was used in the clock tower of Brunswick City Hall until the 1930s.

Glynn Academy Class of 1965 at the 45th Class Reunion

Glynn Academy Class of 1965

On October 15th and 16th ,2010 the Glynn Academy Class of 1965 celebrated their 45th class reunion. There were 365 members of the class of 1965, but sadly to this date 65 of our class members are deceased. A special memorial service was held at the reunion in memory of those who have gone on before us.

It is hard to imagine that so many years have passed since we stood among the Lordly Oaks at Glynn Academy as young teenagers. Those were the good old days and we bonded as friends for a life time.
