On the way into Bradenton this morning we went looking for the Rye Wilderness Park and found it on the Manatee River not far from Lake Manatee State Park we are staying. Rye Wilderness Park near Bradenton, Florida

Canoeing on this picturesque river is something we want to do when the weather is a bit warmer.
Boston ferns in Rye Wilderness Park near Bradenton, Florida
That looks like Boston Ferns growing on the far bank the Manatee River. When we go canoeing we will be looking at these ferns closer. On Tuesday we visited Manatee Village Historical Park in Bradenton. We are in Manatee County and this village is sponsored by the Manatee County Historical Commission. The Historical Commission has done an outstanding job of preserving and displaying many of the areas historical buildings. These buildings including the areas first church, first courthouse, an 1880's house plus the complete boat building shop from a boat building business from the 1800's and early 1900's have all been moved and set up on this property.
